Hi everyone, The worst thing that I felt when I was on BE was getting discharge from nipples the moment they were touched. This was embarrasing for me specially when getting intimate with hubby.
It seems fenugreek caused that. Can anyone tell me if BO is going to again start the same problem for me? Does anyone on BO has this problem??
Thanks Mansi

Mansi, Discharge is not regime based..instead, it's upon how recently you've stopped breast-feeding. Some women, from what I understand, 'leak' for up to two years after stopping breast-feeding. Massaging/raising prolactin levels will cause the 'pre-milk' to come out..so it may be something you need to 'bear' while on BE.

HI Wen, Thanks!! I thought fenugreek caused all that because fenugreek has been used by women to enhance milk production.
It will be hard to live with leaking nipples. Oh God what all we suffer to get some breasts!!!

Mansi, OMG, Fenugreek IS porported to help with that , especially with nursing Moms, it INCREASES the action. [ftp]http://www.breastfeedingonline.com/fenuhugg-print.html[/ftp] and [ftp]http://www.medela.com/NewFiles/fenugreek.html[/ftp] However, since within the past two years, you've breast-fed, it could very well be causing this you to leak even more. There are some who report this WITHOUT taking fenugreek...but boy, I'll bet it doesn't help. Maybe BO is something worth pursuing...even if for 3 months or so...to give some 'leak' relief AND get boobies. Nothing's EVER quite simple *sigh*

Some women leak for years without doing ANYTHING - taking BE pills or birth control, etc. ESPECIALLY during sex (foreplay).
I think this came up before for you, didn't it? Yes - fenugreek will increase milk supply.
Not sure if BO would cause this, but fenugreek will definitely make it worse.

Hi Fawn, Actually I never got this problem of discharge before BE and I don't have this problem now also (when I am on a break from BE). So I thought that fenugreek is causing this because fenugreek is known to increase milk production.
Then Wen mentioned that it is estrogens and prolactin that causes this.
So I guess I have to be ready for this problem when I start on BO again. My hubby does not know about all this BE stuff. I wonder what should I say to him when I start leaking again.

Well - tell him what I told you...
"It is NORMAL for a women to leak during foreplay for several years after weaning."
Even if you DIDN'T without fenugreek - some women do - and you can tell him you are one of them.
When I said it was a problem for you before - I recall you complaining about it back in February. I assume you were on BE then? (I didn't mean "Before BE" - I meant "Before Now".
It is a combination of estrogen and prolactin. It may not happen again, because as time passes since your nursing, your own natural production of prolactin decreases, the sensitivity in the pituitary decreases and progesterone more nearly balances estrogen.

Fawn,
The last time I nursed a baby was over 11 years ago and if squeezed hard enough, my nipples still manage to make drops, and that was before I started taking Fenugreek. I do know and have read, that sometimes adoptive mothers actually use breast pumps and take Fenugreek so they can breast feed an adopted baby, so we know at least that this herb will in fact do something to the boobies. What I'd like to know is: if mine were doing this prior to taking Fenugreek, what is going on inside these boobies as far as hormones go?

Beau,
Some cursory reading on the Web seems to suggest that the fenugreek directly affects milk glands. It also has estrogenic properties...so it's two for one, helps to raise estrogen which allows for accumulation of fats and oils the milk glands.
That's my two cents.

Hi Fawn, No i never had this discharge problem before I was on BE. Do you remember that when I got discharge for the first time, I had sent massage called "Urgent" when this had first happened. I was sooo shocked. Right now I don't have this problem again.
And Thanks for coming up with an excuse for leaking nipples. I can surely convince him by this answer.
Thanks Mansi
