The Russell Creek Family YMCA offers a variety of sports in their Group Exercise classes. It includes basic zumba, boot camp, body sculpt, gentle yoga and many others.
Cardio step aerobics class use challenging choreography and intervals to push one’s fitness to a higher level. The Active Older Adults (AOA) program is designed for older adults which combines low impact aerobics with strength and flexibility training in a fun, social setting. The basic zumba classes are based on Latin music. The body weight challenge is a unique and challenging workout which uses only one’s body weight. The class consists of body weight conditioning drills and endurance training to give one a high energy total body workout. Boot camp is an intense, challenging workout filled with sports conditioning, drills, strength training and more. By working the lower and upper body simultaneously and in opposite direction, light hand weights and body bars are used to create long, lean muscle mass. A variety of different elements from Resistance bands, small balls and also interweaving movements from Pilates, Ballet and Yoga are incorporated in the Sculpt. Core Express is a short, 30 minute class that strengthens the core muscles through a series of low impact exercises. Flex is a challenging weight training class utilizing adjustable barbells to fit one’s strength level. One can gain muscle tone and lose fat through these classes. Yoga classes help to relax and rejuvenate the body, increase range of motion and bring stillness to the mind. There are team activities in which kids aged 4-14 can enjoy participating and develop individual fitness skills under the guidance of experienced YMCA fitness instructors.
