Cycle-the first day of your cycle is the day menstration begins. Ovulation starts around Day 14-15 ending with menstration. Phases of CycleFollicle - starts day1 through ovulation Ovulation - Day 14-15 Luteal - from day of ovulation to menstration. chart provided by Fawn on MSN Board Hormone levels during cycle on day 1 is when progesterone and estrogen are lowest. During the follicle phase estrogen slowly increases until Ovulation. When ovulation occurs, progesterone is increasing, building the uterine lining, estrogen continues to rise. The estrogen should be opposed by progesterone. When both hormones drop dramatically, menstration begins again. Progestins- usually found in Birth Control. It is a synthetic "progesterone". It does NOT convert to other hormones as natural progesterone does. Androgens- the female name for testosterone. Estrogen Dominance - when progesterone is low, during luteal phase and dominanting hormonal balance, or excess estrogen.
