Hello Everyone! I'm 47, breast fed 3 kids out of five, online hormone test suggests I'm estrogen dominant (heavy periods every 24-26 days, sore breasts before my period but not because they're growing). I'm currently taking Grobust 3X day and Fenugreek 500mg 3X a day. (Grobust does not list Fenugreek on their list of herbs). I've read so much on here and the MSN site that I'm basically lost at this point. I'd like to zero in on what I really need and not take this Grobust because I have no idea on the dosages they're including. Started all of this program about 3 weeks ago- had breakthrough spotting right after starting it all. I'm also getting headaches, which I'm normally not prone to having. Any ideas on what I can add to my program? I'd like to stick to individual herbs and dosages. Thanks in advance- this is a great forum!

Hi, Beau! Welcome! From your note, your estrogen levels are already higher, so's it may be that you don't need to increase that as much as lower your progesterone. It would seem the growers are not tooo miserable during the growth process such that they aren't functional, however, there is some discomfort and nasuea at times. For me, it's the ocasional headache and a lil' naseua. Have said that, perhaps a regime with phyto-estrogens and PR blockers would serve you best. Phyto-estrogens seems to be a 'liter' source of estrogen. Tweek suggestion: 1g fengureek, 2g R/C, 500mg oregano OR 1g damiana. My own personal experience has been that oregano's more potent as a PR-blocker, however, damiana's more accessible in a local health food store, it seems. There's oil of oregano, but it's much more expensive, especially when caplets on the internet are only $4 for 100 400mg caps. The soreness in luteal is controlled by progesterone levels..since you pains are too great..and no mention of cramps, your progesterone levels seem nice and healthy. Now..we're gonna throw that outta whack..but only for a few months. In fact, it's promoted to do 2 or 3 mos w/ PR blockers and 1 mos off, to keep glands happy and minds sane, as NBE usually takes 6-9 months ANYWAY. There u have it!

Thanks for the suggestion Wenonae! I will check out GNC today and see what they have to lower the progesterone and let you all know how I'm progressing. I had one heck of a headache and fuzziness yesterday, started my period today, no pre-swelling or soreness in my boobs like I usually get.

Hi Beau, Before heading out to GNC, which is pretty expensive you might want to check out www.greenbush.com. They have excellent prices, quick shipment, and great customer service. I use them and have had quite a bit of success. I use their Enhancement Caps, plus 1.5g Red Clover to help offset the fenugreek side effects, plus it's a great PR blocker with phyto-estrogen. You get 2 for 1. ;D Just my 2 cents (cha-ching)

The extra fenugreek may be what's causing your headaches. You may want to try a different source of phytoestrogens (red clover, fennel or licorice) OR - (and this is radical) - taking the fenugreek (ONLY the fenugreek) with food.

Thanks ladies! I went to GNC before the Greenbush suggestion- bought Damiana to try and I'm going to back off from taking the fenugreek 500mg 3X a day, down to two a day and see if that stops the headaches. I've been sporting that maple syrup scent, so not only have I been flat as a pancake, but now I smell like them too! I may try the oregano if the damiana doesn't kick this up a notch- then I can smell like an Italian pancake! ;D Thanks again to one and all! Beau

Aaaaah! The Ode-de'-IHOP smell. Has the local IHOP increased in business thanks to YOU! Easy fix! If you are using fenugreek in your massage lotion (boobie batter;) Throw a equal amount of Peppermint Extract, plain ol McCormick's Peppermit extract found in the baking section of the grocery store! ;D Works GREAT! Been there....tried that.... IT WORKED!

I feel for ya When I took fenugreek I had the headaches and fuzzy head feeling. After trying other things I came to the decision that fenugreek was the ticket for me, it worked the best on me. Everyone is different though. But I do remember that feeling... hang in there girlie
