Hi,
I was wondering why it is that every time i am dieting and have success, I get mood swings. I suffered from anorexia a couple of years ago and am very careful not to get obsessed about losing weight.
So here's what happened. I cut down sweets and sugar and am cutting down most carbs after 3pm and am having fab success and keeping boobs (i've dowsed a routine for both). The problem is that I'm getting similar mood swings than i had during the an and since i hadn't got rid off them completely before, i really don't want them back.
I read on the internet that too little carbs and fat can cause mood swings. Is there anything i can do to prevent the mood swings?
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, Satu

satu maybe eat more fruits? Fruits may contain lots of sugar but eating them alone wont cause weight gain and as I know you should limit them firs a bit than more and more so there's no such a shock to your organism - simply baby steps

Hi Satu, For fruit, berries might be a good choice for you. Berries are lower in sugar than most other fruits and also higher in nutrition. It's best to choose organic if you can because many berries, particularly strawberries and cherries, are heavily sprayed with chemicals that can really mess up hormones, etc. I'm sorry to know that you were anorexic. I had an eating disorder for many years. I was bulimic, but I didn't throw up or use laxatives, I just exercised too much. It's called exercise bulimia. These things tend to drag on in our psyches sometimes, but it's great that you're aware of your old tendencies and are doing what you can to be healthy.

Hi Novelia,
I'll try berries as well. I love strawberries and blueberries so it won't be a problem.
Anorexia was what i had a couple of years ago, but before this about 8-9 years ago I suffered from exercise bulimia as well. 4-6 hours of exercise every day. I wasn't throwing up either, but i did laxatives a bit at some point. Thank goodness it's over!!!

Have you read about Goji berries? The Tibetan ones are best, apparently. Expensive, but really high in nutrients. I tried them yesterday and really enjoyed them. Here's are two links: www.foreverhealthy.net/html/products/Prod_180_goji.htmlwww.healthegoods.com/tibetangojiberriesdried.htm

Hi Novelia and thank you for your advise.
I'll have a look at the websites and see if it'd be of help. I've added more fruit and berries in my diet and I am feeling better.
Thank you all. Satu
