Hi fawn, momi, and wen.....I took a test today at this site....http://www.hypoglycemia.org/products.asp and I scored a 60 which is considered at risk! Anything over a 20 is considered at risk! Sooooo my other problem is that I noticed today that my face was pretty much covered with fuzzy looking soft blonde hair. I never noticed before because it's sooo blonde and hard to notice unless I look for it...I'm sure other people can notice it! My hair mostly falls out when my period starts and during.....and usually around the time I ovulate.
I took some progesterone for 2 months during luteal and I got some aching in my breasts and then my hair fell out....soooo momi, wen and I figured out that my body is converting most of the progesterone into estrogen which I'm already in excess of to begin with! I thought about starting saw palmetto and see if that'll help things........I'm just really not sure what to do! I have excess androgens and excess estrogen, high risk hypoglycemic, and have a lot of symptoms for the pcos! Boy I'm a case!!
Sorry this is such a long post! Thanks for all your help!

Hey,
Chickydee,
I have a good friend who is hypoglycemic and she has found that eating many small meals through out the day really helps her. She tries to to include a small amount of protein in each meal. She also trys to avoid refined sugar and refined flour products as much as possible. Since she has been doing this, she has noticed a big difference in how she feels. When she "falls off the wagon" and eats sugar or white flour stuff, she said she feels like crap.
Hope this helps a little,
Colleen

Hey Chickydee,
I can relate to the hypoglycemic thing too. I have to be careful.
So do you have symptoms of hypoglycemia or does just this test tell you that you might be vulnerable?
I have found that I need to eat more meals through the day like Colleen mentioned. I also try to eat a lot of raw vegetables, especially green ones, because they seem to be less full of sugar to make me have a 'swing' in my fatigue. This might help with your hair too because the minerals are very good for hair growth.
What do you think about alfalfa Fawn for her? I think it might help and couldn't hurt.

Hi Chickydee! I am hypoglycemic and have found that it does work best to eat several small meals a day. Protein is very important! Symptoms of Hypoglycemia include, fatigue, dizziness, fainting spells, weakness, disrupted thought process or foggy thinking, and sometimes shaking, headache and cold clammy sweat. It is also important to remember that exercise can trigger a hypoglycemic attack. Your body is using its metabolism to break down the glucose levels and pretty soon you dont have enough. This has happened to me on a few occasions even after I was careful when balancing my meals. That doesnt mean that you shouldnt exercise, it just means that you shouldnt feel ashamed to stop exercising if you feel these symptoms. I should know! I didnt want to tell anyone I was feeling bad in the middle of my sister's wedding ceremony ( I was a bridesmaid) and I went into insulin shock! Everything turned out ok but you still have to be careful. Mine is a pretty extreme case of hypoglycemia exacerbated by other problems. It is also important to remember that if your cleansing your body, you do not do a cleansing program that includes fasting with absolutely no food. I have tried similar programs or diets that were supposed to be safe for hypoglycemics and I didnt feel very well during and had to stop. Some forms of cleansing may help. These types of cleansing aid in digestion and thus you are better able to get the nutrients your body craves. It is best to talk to a doctor when considering a cleanse. If you are always fatigued, not having a daily BM, feeling depressed, loosing hair, and having foggy thoughts, these are signs you could benefit from a cleanse. It is all connected. I am trying a cleansing program right now. So far, I feel fine except that I seem to have caught a cold. I think this is a result of all the toxins trying to leave my body. Sorry for rambling! I hope this helps a little and if you have any questions, Im here to help however i can!

Good grief -- I just took that quiz and I'm a 72! I've been wanting to call my doctor about my symptoms, anyway: heart palpitations (that will often start up just by me turning over in bed), anxiety (it's been almost daily, and had a nasty panic attack a couple of weeks ago), fatigue, etc. Thanks, Chicky, for posting the link. Grace

I did the test too. But don't forget, it's a site aimed at selling stuff. If anyone's really concerned about hypoglycemia, have yourself checked properly. I'm a natural worrier so these things really get to me! But I don't think anyone should just base a diagnosis on this site.......

Yep, i agree, even with a score of 22 they still consider me to be at a high risk. The scores are probably fixed so you can't get lower than 20 which is what they consider normal

Hey ladies,
Sorry I haven't been around much.
I wanted to share that I kicked my hypoglycemia problem that I have had forever and then some time ;)
I thought you would like to know how too so you could check it out for yourself.
There is this famous doctor down here who uses acupuncture, and allergy clearing techniques using kinesiology.
He explained that people who suffer from hypoglycemia actually have difficulty assimilating glucose (which is sugar of course). What he does is to help your body process sugar properly.
The only thing I can tell you is that it worked! After trying almost everything and having to be very careful of what and when I ate. I now don't worry about it and feel great. I haven't had a problem for 8 months now. What a relief.
Not all of you can visit me down here in beautiful, warm Costa Rica ??? ,but maybe you can find someone in your areas that could help in the same manner.
Thought I would pass it along anyway.
