From: Venus0897 (Original Message) Sent: 7/2/2003 10:50 AM Hi all, I came across this article on Kava Kava and possible liver damage. The article basically says that it's the stems and leaves of the plant (which over the years has become more popular because it's much cheaper) that causes liver damage. The original method only uses the root. Here is the link to the article if anyone is interested: the.honoluluadvertiser.com/article/2003/Apr/07/ln/ln03a.html Venus

From: Mominator5 Sent: 7/2/2003 11:43 AM Hi Venus, Thank you for that information! So I guess the question to ask before purchasing is what part of the plant does this Kava Kava come from. Yeah, like they are going to know, but possibly the manufacturer would be willing to ask that question! Thanks again! Happy Growin' Momi'

Hi Momi, I've seen a few on the internet that said on the label "Pure Kava Kava ROOT" I guess those are the ones we need to look for. I guess if it just says kava kava it may contain the stems and leaves also. Venus

Hi Venus, thanks so much for the info! My girlfriends have switched to kava kava instead of St Johns Wort and I was worried about the liver damage they might be getting into! Now we have at least an idea about which type of capsules to get! Thanks!! Warrior Girl
