Hi Fawn, What a great and logical and clear and precise explanation!!!. We love having you around.
Fawn I am herbs right now. And in one more month, I will be finishing 3 months of BE on herbs. After that I want to cycle that with peogestrone. But I have no idea how and when to use progestron. Actually all my menstrual cycles are very upset these days. I get period in 40-45 days. So I don't know when I ovulate (which is supposed to be 14 th day when you have a regular 30 days period). So whall I take progestone after I stop my periods, or at start of periods, or mid cyle or when. ANd how to determine when am I ovulating? Thanks a lot Mansi

Mansi, There's a couple of ways to tell when your ovulating - but since you want to "mimic" ovulation by using progesterone - you can make it when you want it. Use progesterone starting 14 days after your period - to 30 days. Use 10-20 mgs twice daily. I use it on my wrists. Fawn

Fawn,
Regarding your suggestion to up the BO dosage during the 2nd half of cycle, do you think I could add Estradiol at that time instead of upping my BO dose? I have some Estradiol (2 mg) pills that I ordered back in February. Or do you think it's best to ditch the Estradiol and just stick with the BO?

Venus, I personally had a lot of problems using estradiol - so can't recommend it to anyone. It's one of those things you'll need to decide yourself. It may help BE, but the side effects may be too aggravating to be worth it. Everyone is different. I have rarely known HRT or BC estrogens to cause "permanent" enlargement. Fawn

Hi Fawn, Thanks for your previous reply. I have a few more questions regarding progestrone. 1. So during the progestrone cycle, I have to take progestrone only from day 14-30 till I get my period right? 2. DO i have to stop taking progestrone after my period comes? 3. Shall I continue taking herbs when taking progestrone? If yes how much? 4. Is their a specific time of the day or specific time gap between herbs and progestrone? Thanks a lot Mansi

Mansi, 1. Progesterone is a topical cream. Use twice a day (per the directions) on days 14-30. 2. Yes you should stop on either day 30 or when your period starts - whichever comes first. 3. Yes - continue taking your herbs. While cycling on progesterone, just take your normal dosage. During days 14-30 when NOT taking progesterone, you might want to up your herb doses by 25-30%. 4. Use progesterone cream morning and night, about 12 hours apart. Take your herbs as you do normally - on an EMPTY stomach. Fawn

Hi Fawn & Gigi, I was thinking (yes, yes I was!) about the cycling and the down times of estrogen. Fawn you said we want to mimic puberty. Puberty takes several years...so here's my thought, as I have posted before I typically do not grow 10 days to week prior to Aunti Flow's monthly visit, then during mensus I tend to grow quite a bit. It seems to me that is exactly what our bodies when on BE are doing, they slow down, taking a break from the estrogen high, getting ready for mensus the same as puberty. Does this thought process make sense to anyone? Nature is already providing the break, now for some one like Gigi who is perimenopausal this theory (see I was thinking) would not work and she might want to up the fenugreek or fennel for a short time. So what do you THINK? Did I think clearly this time, or is it the fenugreek? Momi

Hi Mom, Your thinking is on target. Actually I believe that's what Fawn said in her Message to Mansi-sounds like a song. She said to up the dosage of herbs 25%-30% days 14-30. I could also manipulate my body's response by taking progesterone during that time and maintaining the usual dosage. Of course I could do that for the first month of cycling to jump start the process and thereafter only use the progesterone in the fourth month. I actually started increasing the dosage today. 14 days from now I'll drop it down and we'll see what happens. gigi

Yeah, I realized it after going back over the messages, IT'S the DARN FENUGREEK, but the point I was trying to make is...maybe we shouldn't try to over ride the low estrogen (people not in perimenopause), it's nature's way of balancing. Just like Fawn recommends you only stay on BE for 12 months to give your body a break. My thinking is the same with the low estrogen during the month. It's the body's natural defense and the little 10 day break is needed. Again, maybe I'm getting used the Fenugreek and my brain is working again! Hmmm, could it be? Momi
