i have pcos (hirsutism) i have a lot of coarse hair on my body and face,i never had problems with my cycle i just never got pregnant i have been to many doctor since i was a teenager and no one would listen to me,i was told that i was hairy because of hormones. thats it! i have tryed everthing from waxing ,threading which is very painful.then finally april 06,my sister sent me a newspaper ad from back home where there was a spa clinic to open that does laser hair removal, i was scared, but the coarse black hair had my face looking like a mans beard,i prayed and drove home on the opening day .the price was good, compared to all the expensive makeup and shaving products and threading and waxing.it hurt the first time, but in 2 days i seen hair on my pillow and ran to the bathroom and looked in the mirror and i seen lines of my skin where the hair fell out.each day there would be new lines.after 1 week i had no hair in my face i was so happy.i was told at the clinic that i had the worse case they had seen, when i returned the next month for my treatment they were so shocked that they called all the doctors to see my face.they took pictures so that they could compare, it got better the hair would grow in spots but it came back thinner after about 6 treatments, but at this time i did not know that i had pcos,in oct 06 i was in the library and i picked up a weight watchers magazine mar/april 06 addition and there was a storie of a women with the same problem as me,i prayed about it and asked god to lead me to the right doctor ,who would listen to me,and he did....so please talked to me who ever you are out there,i need friends who can help me get through this ,i have been alone since i was 15 ,living with the shame it cause me,i am now 37.,please talk to me,so that i know that i am not alone anymore........

Hi, wow.
Well, there are people on here with PCOS. There's advisors/moderators who know quite a bit about it too. What is your objective, help your PCOS or breast enhancement? There are alternative methods for improving the symptoms of PCOS. Have you Googled any remedies? Lots of info out there.
One of the most commonly recommended herbs is saw palmetto because it prevents the body from uptaking the particular testosterone which promotes body/facial hair growth.
Happy reading.

Hi ladies. I have had this problem since my teens. I do not have unusual hair on my face, except a few I have to pluck on my chin every couple of weeks, and what I consider normal fine dark mustache hairs that I wax. However, I have had dark coarse hair on my legs and surrounding pubic area all my life. Some of my friends have like a one inch area outside their panties they have to shave, I have to shave this this stuff 8 inches down my inner thigh, and half way up my belly. It's ok and soft the day I shave, but for the next week I'm miserable, and can't shave again until it heals. If I let it grow, it would be like a man. Is what I am describing Hirsutism? My arms do have fine dark hair, but not grossly abnormal, my underarms if left to grow would look like a mans also. I also wax the top of my feet, it's not hard coarse hair, just fine darker hair.
I used to think it was the price I paid for having a nice thick head of hair, but since I have been on the NBE boards and learning about hormones, now I see that it is not that simple.
I take BB, but I also take 2-360 mg saw palmetto extract gels a day. I have searched the internet, but haven't seen anything that would appear to work. Should I up the SP?
I have also been wondering about progesterone cream (Fawn I posted a question to you on Eve's board, but it got lost and I'm sure you didn't see it ). So this might help? Can I use this while taking BB? Right now I can't afford laser treatments, and I'm kinda scared of permanent scarring from it. I've lived with it for all this time, I'm 40 now.
Thanks for any input/advise - Sissy

5-7 grams is correct - 5,000 -7,000 miligrams. It isn't as much as you think.
Progesterone cream can be used at ANY time with ANY herbs or supplements during the second half of your cycle, day 14 - day 28.

thanks fawn and wen Ive just read that if your level of progesterone is too low your level of estrogen will be too much compaired to the progesterone and the levels will not work properly together. So would someone like me need to take progesterone cream to give me more progesterone? how would i even know ? wouldnt i have to get my progesterone level tested some how before using the cream? I already have too much testosterone would the added progesterone block my estrogen even more? Im confussed.

Progesterone is perfectly safe to "trial" out to see if it helps your symptoms. You don't say how old you are.

Vitex and progesterone cream work differently.
Vitex works on the hypothalamus and helps to "normalize estrogen levels" by raising progesterone levels. It also raises dopamine levels which inhibits prolactin release. Therefore, Vitex is not usually compatible with BE.
Progesterone cream works directly. It is also not good for BE unless you use it very sparingly. Fawn and I probably have differing opinions on progesterone cream for BE. But it is great for PCOS symptoms.
There are exceptions. Once in a while someone will say that they grew on Vitex or progesterone cream and then everyone jumps on the bandwagon and then find out that it was a fluke for that person. We keep stressing that what works for one woman does not necessarily work for another. I have noticed that those who use progesterone cream don't tend to have any growth. But I'm sure that there are exceptions.
What might work for you is to go look up everything you can find about mominator and her routine. She had PCOS and did very well. And again, pay close attention to what Fawn has to say about treating PCOS.
Good luck,
Wahaika
