Any of you have that one really good friend that you tend to wonder why they tend to lack the common sense the rest of us use on a daily basis?
My best friend in the whole world since we were 7 years old...we are like night and day. But over the last few years, it seemed that everything I did, she also atleast tried to do. I finally married my husband last April after 6 years of living together and "dating"...then in September she got married too...she had dated this guy on and off for about a year or so. Neither one of them are financially sound, or even close for that matter. She just filed bankrupcy a little over a year ago and still hasn't learned her lesson. Anyways, they got married and have been blaming each other for their "troubles". I agree that the blame should be shared, but all they do is fight.
She called me tonight crying cuz he took off with $300 that was to go to paying the gas bill or something and she has no idea where he went. He told her that it was his money and that when the bills come in, she should total them up and he would pay her 1/4 of the total, cuz he doesn't feel he owes her anymore than that. What??? He lives there too. I told her that they both need to grow up and start thinking about what is more important to them.
Oh yeah, not to mention the fact that he belittles her everyday, telling her how stupid she is and that she needs to lose weight...she only weighs about 120 and not fat at all! And yet she continues to put up with it.
I have heard her tell me about this stuff for months now and finally told her that I would divorce him and be miserable and broke on my own if I were her.
She says that she's been thinking about it, but I doubt it. She was telling me about some of his little temper tantrums that he has when he doesn't get his way...like smashing her stuff, breaking windows/doors, punching holes in the walls...I have been in an abusive relationship before and this is how it all starts. I keep telling her that it's not gonna get better, only worse...and the longer she stays the harder it will be get out of it and move on...but I know she prolly doesn't wanna hear it.
I worry about her cuz she is my closest friend, but I just can't see why she would be with someone like that. Why anyone would stay time after time!
Sorry this is so long and drawn out...I am just venting!
