It seems that since I had my child, I suffer from depression every month, specially in the last 2 weeks of my menstrual cycle. It makes me lose my motivation to do anything and it is a real handicap, especially at work. I talked about it to my doctor, he tested me for thyroid hormones but did not find anything wrong.
My life has changed a lot since I had my child and is much tougher: I feel exhausted and frustrated very often, my husband and I have no family around to help with our child and we both have a busy job. On top of all that, my pregnancy severely damaged my belly and my breasts so I do not feel half as good as before about how I look.
I am thinking of a career change cause I just lost the interest in the job that I am doing right now. But it's not that easy cause I live in a foreign country and the only paper I have is a study permit ( I am doing a PhD in biochemistry). It will take time before I have a more stable situation. I still have the same interest in science as always but I am not interested at all anymore in making a career as a scientist. I was motivated at first but after all the difficulties I had to go through, I got fed up. I need a job that would be more rewarding and less frustrating. I actually always dreamt of working for myself, doing my own thing but never figured out what exactly.
It scares me sometimes how down PMS can make me feel. I'm scared that I might end up with permanent depression or other psychological issues.
My mum has schizophrenia and one of my brothers had a very serious depression associated with paranoia a few years ago. I'm afraid PMS could drag me down too...
I'm actually hoping that herbs could also help me with the psychological symptoms of PMS but also the physical ones (I get very bad menstrual cramps). Without PMS, my life would already be a lot easier...
If anyone has any advice or suggestions to relieve my PMS symptoms, that would be more than welcome!
Thanks
