Hello everyone! I am new on this forum and I am here to seek your advice. I want to take advice from people who do not know me and I don’t know them. Would you leave your country and settle down with a person abroad if you fall in love with that person? Actually I am in a dilemma and I don’t know what to do? I love a guy who lives in Brazil. We know each other since some 6-7 months and we met on the net itself. We talked everyday and then we both realized that we have fallen in love. He came to meet me at my place and we spent one week together. It was wonderful he is an amazing person. While leaving he told me to come over to Brazil and we will get married and settle down. I told him to come over here but he doesn’t want to leave his job. I don’t want to leave my job either. I work as a pharmacist over here. I have decided to contact the pharmacies in Brazil and ask them if there is a possibility that I get a job over there. I came across a Brazil pharmacy directory where I got the address and the phone number of the pharmacies there. I phoned one pharmacy and they said that they can take me if I produce all my certificates and evidence of work experience. I don’t know what to do. My parents are against this but….i really don’t know what to do…what would you have done if you were I my place?

Hi adorna, Sorry to hear about your struggles. I went through something similar about a year ago except I didn't move from one country to another I only moved from one province to another (I'm in Canada). I moved to British Columbia and spent 11 months with my man before he broke up with me. And I find it very hard now, even after a year of living here to start over without him. YOu just have to be really careful in going if you're not willing to do it independent of him. If you lean on him for everything you will be crushed if it doesn't work out. Be prepared to make it on your own because if it doesn't work out you will be really really disappointed. At the same time if you don't take the chance you may risk losing somone who could be very special to you. Its a tough one but in the end you just have to follow your heart. I hope that things will work out better for you.

I 2nd Chartuininga. Be sure at the very least you can make it on your own. Consider it all an adventure, but don't put all the eggs in one basket so this way, if you're let down- you won't be absolutely crushed. I too had a similar situation, but I made sure I could have a 'life' w/ or w/o the guy. Was the best decision..b/c when it didn't work out- I still survived.
Figuring out if you want to commit to someone for life can't be assessed from afar. However, when you get up close, it may not be as the phone convos are -which allow a lot of fantasy and idealism which may not exist. If you can afford to move and live on your own- set a timeline of 1 yr. Make the most of every moment to see his good and bad days. See if he's the same that you think he is.
Best of' Wen'
