Okay, this might sound like whining. Watch out. I'm dealing with a lot of family cr@p right now. Is anyone else here over the age of 20 being dominated by parents/grandparents/family and cannot get out of it because they have no transportation/job/money of their own? I'm going tomorrow to get a nose or upper ear ring against their will and fear a beating when I come back. This is the same family that is forcing me to diet even though I'm almost underweight, the same people who throw away my homebrewing equipment. The same sonsab*tches who joined a strict Christian church even though they are agnostic to force me to be a 'Church Girl', the same mother who called me a sleeper when I got my first kiss at 18, throws away my vegetarian food products, sneaks meat crap into my food, and God help me if she finds out I'm bi or pagan. I can't get a job, a place to live or even transportation because I have no experience, skills, or education (due to their endeavors). Anyone else lived through such a situation to tell the tale?

I will spare you the details of my life but I can relate. The thing that makes me wonder is, if you know that getting the piercing is going to lead to a beating, why are you doing it? Is it the fact that no matter what its going to happen? Have you ever gone to any teacher, city official, or anyone else and told them about this? I think you really need to seek help and do so soon since this kind of enviroment is not productive to well being. If you have friends, ask to talk with their parents(as long as they are level headed...do not talk with them if they think they will second guess you and speak with your parents...this will only make the situation worse but then again i'm sure you knew that)and explain your situation and what they are doing and have them help you seek help. I really do hope this helps you and I hope things get better.

I've decided not to do it and get some new jeans instead- getting my butt kicked isn't worth it. thanks.

I recommend looking for independence before jeans and piercings. It's a LOT more satisfying.

Well, I can't live independently for the next 8 years for reasons too multifarious to list here. So I'll just stick with fake piercings.
