Well its been 4 days now I have had the braces and I have lost 5 lbs! Its hasnt been much fun at all. I really didnt think they would be this uncofterbale. My teeth feel loose and hurt and I cant chew anything just swallow. I havent taken any herbs due to blood sugar reasons I havent been eatting. My Top teeth dont bother me a bit, its the crowded ones on the bottom. Feels as if they are being pulled on all the time. The pain has gotten better everyday and today I havent had to take anything for the pain. ;D I got clear ones on top and everone says they cant even tell I have them. So that is cool! Well here's hoppen for some stright teeth. SOON! When will you be getting yours on? I can give you some tips and stuff before you do that will help you.

I haven't yet made the appointment... still saving a bit... and taking care of other priorities first. Any advice would be good though! Sounds like our experiences will be very similar (ouch )... my top teeth have plenty of space between them, my bottom teeth are crowded enough that the front couple are a bit crooked... similar? Still trying to decide if I want the clear ones on top or if I want to go fully Speed top and bottom...its convenience vs. esthetics.... are your top ones the really new clear Damons (are they even available yet???) or are they the regular clears?

I had clear porcelain braces. They're alright, cost about $3000 extra for what? just to look like you're not wearing braces. It doesn't make that much difference to be honest, but its all up to you in the end It's a shame that your in pain right now I didn't have as much pain because my teeth were relatively straight to begin with (only 2 teeth were out of line, and i needed to correct a cross-bite). Good luck though! and I assure you, it gets alot better as you progress

I there, well it has gotten a bit better now ;D I lost 10 lbs in the 1st week but I have gained about 3 lbs back. The pain is gone now so I would say the 1st week is the worst part. Of course I have a couple more weeks till I go in for my adjustment. Im sure the pain will start all over again after that. My teeth on top are stright but Bottome are smashed together I have one that is turned a bit and the others overlap one another. I wanted the Damon's but My ortho said my treatment time wouldnt be any diffrent with them and offered me the clear porclen ones for 3,000 less, So I have clear on top and medal on bottom. I like them people say they cant even tell I have braces, So thats nice. Damon 3 are pretty cool if you can get them they are half clear and half medal. My ortho said the damons may shorten treatment by one or two mo's but to me that wasnt worth the extra 3,000 for them. There is an alsome board you can go to archwire all the people there are alsome, and you can learn so much. My name on there is Skinny, Once your there go to the medal mouth board, there are all sorts of posts there and pictures too.

Hey Jess, not sure if you've gone back for your adjustments yet but I thought I would comfort you a little bit about the pain. I had braces for six long years (crappy orthodontist and a bad overbite - long story lol) and really the pain from first having them put on is the worst part. After adjustments you'll usually be pretty sore for the day and maybe the day after that, then it's not so bad again. I don't remember having the pain for as long as I did the first time they were put on. I usually just took some ibuprofen right after and was good to go. I hope that everything goes okay and that I'm not wrong about the pain!

Just wanted to say--it gets better, having braces. It really does. I had them in middle school and then again for 2 years, starting when I was 21 (at least then I could use vodka to numb the pain... . I also had orthognathic surgery for TMJ, and I can honestly say it was the best decision I ever made. My teeth look great and more importantly, hurt much less. It kinda sucks, being older and having braces, but once they're off, it's great.
