Hi. Last year I stumbled on Skin Biology....a site provides research and sells copper based anti wrinkle and skin firming products. I tried one or two of their products for sagging skin on my stomach and never reordered, so got no results. Skin remodeling takes at a minimum about 6 months. So I started again this year.
I picked out a whole routine for face and body. Unortunately, I don't care for the way the products "look". My skin looks very dull and blotchy. The company does say that one can go through these periods of ugliness while skin resurfacing.
My second problem, is that after switching to stronger copper peptides, the crepey appearance of the delicate skin around my eyes, neck and back of my hands has gotten worse, instead of better. Skin Biology has a forum where others have complained of the same problem.
Right now, I am trying to decide if this is new "damage" or part of the uglies before my returning youth and beauty. LOL Sarcasm intended.
I thought some of you might be interested in skin care and I need a place to keep track of my progress other than the Skin Bio forum, where I could be seen as an antagonist if things don't work out. So I thought I'd post here. I am also going to start dowsing for ideas on what products I'd need to use. If I get any positive results, I would love to share them.
I would like to know if anyone else has used copper peptides and what results they had. I also need a really good, non greasy moisturizer. The skin bio company recommends emu oil. I hate it. Its like smearing greasy yellow fat on your face. After it sucks in a bit, it makes you face look very dull indeed.
Thanks.

Look forward to the skin chronicles . The only thing I can think of to help with skin luster are the micro-dermabrasion cleansers. After that, any generic moisterizer will do. Dowse-check that though out. Wen'

I finally gave in & decided to try a chemical peel (not the at-home kind). I had a lot of zits on my face that just surfaced in the last few years & there were more in specific areas (like my chin). They wouldn't go away, plus I've also got some darker spots (hyperpigmentation) too. I kind of wonder if that's not from being on birth control for so long. But I've also spent a lot of time in the sun. Anyway, after the 3rd peel (1 a month for 3 months) I totally noticed a difference. I've had 5 total peels now & my skin looks better than ever.
I like Kiss My Face stuff a lot. Their facial stuff feels really nice on my face & I don't feel like it clogs my pores so much. I also like to use Bare Minerals foundation, although I do use Origins concealer. Now that I'm getting older (32) I've really started to analyze my skin care regime more.

Hey Ladies,
This is a topic near and dear to my heart ( and face.) At 42, I may not have boobs, but I've been very fortunate to maintain good skin. The number one factor, I firmly believe, is constant use of sun protection, every day. I use mostly Neutrogena sun products, as they have some great non-greasy formulas.
Last year, I also went online and ordered Meroxyl-based sunscreens from Europe, which offer better full-spectrum protection than anything currently sold in the US, U found mine on Ebay. If your skin is protected, some repair can take place. I concentrate on the under-eye area.
Sunscreen-infused moisturizers are good too, and again, Neutrogena makes some good ones with a variety of active ingredients. A new favorite is Deep Wrinkle treatment, with Hyaluronic Acid.
Their at-home mushroom extract peel is good too.
For overall face toning--I stumbled on a real find--get the book Facercise by Carole Maggio. It sounded stupid to me, but after following the regime religiously, my jaw, neck, cheeks and upper eyelid area are much firmer. My boyfriend was touching my face about a month after I began the program ( he did not know about it) and commented on how firm my skin was!
Beware of stuff that is too oily or greasy--it only plumps your skin temporarily. Have you thought about trying Retin A/Renova? Can be pretty effective, but you must give it several months and use sunscreen religiously.
Don't overprocess--using Retin A and peels is too much.
Perhaps--if it is feasisble, go to a good dermotologist and get some recommendations?

Jennidee, I'm really interested in the book so maybe next time I get a day off I'll go look for it. Thanks for sharing. I also agree w/you that people's skin looks the best when they have been good about avoiding the sun - I'm sure yours looks great. Unfortunately I lived in Hawaii most of my childhood (21 yrs) & once we turned brown we didn't bother to wear sunscreen much. I always thought I had darker brown skin & was surprised to find out I am really fair skinned after moving to the states. So the damage has already been done in my case, & the problem is I really love the sun! And I still love getting a tan. I am so bad! Even the girl who gives me the chemical peels said "Uh oh" when I came back from a visit home & told her I was out in the sun. I'm really tempted to try that new mushroom stuff by Origins (the one Dr. Andrew Weil promotes). Have any of you seen the ad & tried it? I forgot what it's called. Anything mushroom & I'm all over it. Generally I stay away from anything greasy & oily too. I don't like thick creams that feel like they're just sitting on the top of my face. I like gels better like Kiss My Face Breakout Gel. Even tho it's for zits I like putting it all over my face before I go to sleep. Well, on the positive side, even tho I'm 32 everyone seems to think I'm anywhere between 19 & 24 (I usually don't get guesses on my age above 24 yrs, most people think I'm about 22). So I can live w/looking a decade younger than I really am. I'm sure the small boobs probably help fool everyone, too. I'm surprised they don't look @ my chest & think I'm 12 (hee, hee). I did get a compliment on my "Asian" skin but I think it's just because I wear Bare Minerals make up & it hides things nicely without making it look like I'm wearing anything.

Hawaii? Oh heck, if I lived there, I'd look like an old shoe, since I'd be at or in the water most of the time. I am in New England, and summer lasts about 4 days! You can always get one of those airbrush tans to look good while secretly slathering on the sunscreen. And thanks to Jessica Simpson, floppy hats are in style right now too!
good luck,
Jennifer
