Hello - posting this again from the other board!
When I was vaguely searching on a different topic (I have slight scoliosis of my back) I discovered that among the effects of zinc deficiency (at puberty) is.... delayed or incomplete sexual development... including.... very small breasts.
I'm on herbs & slooowly growing - nothing to boast about but over the last 5 months they've got slightly fuller. I'm quite resigned to going on at my current rate for the next year, aiming for that A-cup (have tweaked up & down & the current dosage seems to be best) - BUT of course I'd love a magic bullet to speed it up, and now I'm wondering if zinc might be it. Since we're putting ourselves back in a puberty-like state, perhaps if this time I add zinc that'll be the key?
I don't know if there's anyone else on the board who fits these criteria - possibly not those who grew well at puberty but lost some after nursing - zinc deficiency signs that I have include scoliosis, bandy legs, white spots on fingernails, poor eyesight. (OMG I do sound like a freak! I'm actually quite good looking!)
Has anyone looked into zinc, or knows anything about it? I've gone out & bought myself a bottle, I'll keep you posted.

aprilbabe,
Zinc is used by bodybuilders to keep the testosterone they take from aromatizing to estrogen. Zinc has been known to prevent gynomastia in testosterone users.
Of course this doesn't mean that it effects women the same.
I'd love to see where you read that, if you don't mind posting the links.

Hi April,
I like the way this theory is going! But just for another outlook with scolesis, my oldest son does have it. When it was discovered our Dr said that it is a heritary condition and 90% of the time comes from the maternal side.
So for whatever that is worth. Yeah, makes you wonder those of us that didn't quite get the boobs of the rest of family....were we dificient in a vital mineral or vitamin. Was it stress? Or just unlucky us?

April, It's a very interesting theory. You'll have to share the links and keep us posted. That would be amazing if all u needed were minerals to 'rite' your system...so, we'll be curious to know what, if any progress comes of using those zinc tablets. If u would please, chart ur dosages and other helpful things to help u and us understand...that would be TOO awesome!

Thank you all, a lot to think about. The website is www.ctds.info/zinc1.html#zinc_deficiency. I'd love to know your opinions, becuase I'm a complete novice at this stuff. Fawn, it sez ere, zinc deficiency causes male genitals to develop smaller. So it might affect bodybuilders who are putting their systems under strain by "feminizing" them and taking supplements stops deficiency occuring? But as I said, I don't understand all this, so please please please someone tell me if they think i'm going to stop breast growth by taking zinc!! Aaargh! Momi, I think I understand from this site that zinc deficiency - or a tendency to zinc deficiency - can be inherited. I may be reading it wrong (my printer' s not working & I find it hard not to skim when I'm reading off a screen...) This would make sense, though, in a way - my mum has bandy legs so I always assumed mine were genetic, but it could be that what I've inherited is a tendency not to absorb zinc properly? Whew! I've barely even heard of zinc b4, and I really don't have ANY medical knowledge, so I could be jumping to conclusions and reading this wrong. But I was a whole-grain eating vegetarian for most of my late childhood & teenage years, which is supposed to be a low-zinc diet, so a lot of things here seem to fit to me. I'll definitely take a supplement & let you know what happens It could all be a complete red herring, though! btw, I'm currently taking: (roughly) 1600 mg fenugreek 1800 mg wild yam 1500 mg red clover 1800 mg saw palmetto (and now) 50 mg zinc. (1 tablet/day, see what happens) plus massage, plus hypnotism, blah blah blah... Thanks for your thoughts, aprilbabexx
