Hi,
How much of SP should a man take to re-grow hair? In the net it says only from 160mg to 350mg per day which to me sounds almost nothing. Is this enough? What is a good starting amount and then to start building up from there?
Thank you so much! Satu

It can if you give him 7 grams a day! I would definitely start low and titrate up. Also, double check if they mean standardized constituents or whole herb. Whole herb isn't as strong as the standardized version, but can carry some necessary enzymes for use. Check a couple of sources. Fawn

Hi Fawn! How u been? I was jus wondering DOES SP actually halp a man grow hair? I met my boyfriend's buddy yesterday who's barely 26 & already has a bald patch.! I remembered this thread & was thinking if i shud suggest SP for him. The thing is i think its in his genes, his dad is compltely bald. So will that affect the results? I think it'll take some convincing to get him to try it so i don't want him coming back & saying he wasted his money thanks to me!

Genes just dictate natural hormone levels. It's possible with external influence to modify how they are in the body. SP could be worth a try for a balding man. Dosages of about 500-1000mg a day.

Hi Wen,
Is 500-1000mg per day really enough for a man to regrow hair?
Thanks, Satu

Saw palmetto at a lower dosage and grapeseed extract both appear to help prevent balding in men.
2000 mgs may be too much, you'll find out if he stops, er, waking you up, um. You know.

Hi,
Thank you for your advice.
I'll offer grapeseed extract to my BF and see what he says. Is it to be taken internally or externally?
Thank you, Satu

Can it really re-grow hair on a guy that's been bald for over half his life or is more of a preventative thing? And, does it affect any muscular strength?

Saw palmetto taken internally blocks the receptors for a particular kind of testosterone, DHT, which is indicated in male pattern hair loss. He would take it internally. I don't have exact dosages at hand, but they can be googled easily as it's been used for a while and there's definitely some info online on it for hair loss. Grapeseed extract has been shown to increase the thickness and regrowth of hair when applied externally. You can make a "tonic" for him to put on before bed and wash out in the morning. I'm sure the recipe/proportions is somewhere here or on the BBL proboard forum. It's also in the Real Beauty-Real Health book. Fawn www.botanicalbeautylab.com
