I just noticed that I have brown patchy coloration on both sides of my face from my temples to my chin! I mowed the lawn a little over a week ago, but used sunscreen and didn't seem to get any color. I have a very light complexion, (I burn way before I tan), and this doesn't look like any tan I've ever seen! Could this be connected to the herbs? Thanks!!

Yes. Some women who are preggers report brown spots. I know during that time, estrogen and progesterone vary in levels. Since you're prolly taking estrogenic herbs, I would more guess it's due to that. Wen'

Does that mean the herbs are making my body think it's pregnant rather than going thru puberty?

In either case, both times you can grow breasts (preggers, teens). It's just a side effect from what you're doing. I can't say (without dowsing), if this is just something temporary to experience on your way to growing breasts or if it's something negative. Since it does occurr naturally, maybe keep what you're doing for another month or so. If you're really unhappy or get more concerned, have someone check some indications for you or just stop doing the herbs.

You need to stop the herbs or other BE substances you are using immediately. If possible, do an immediate milk thistle cleanse to defuse any excess hormones in your system.
You need to apply sunscreen everytime you go outside for a while. And you may need a retina cream to reduce the coloring.
I've never heard of melasma (pregnacy mask) with NBE before, but if you are also using birth control or HRT (or may be pregnant) it may be causing the skin condition.
My advice to you is to '86 the NBE program immediately and address the skin by protecting it from further sun-coloring and exfoliating and regenerating it back to normal.

Thanks Fawn, I stopped the BE herbs as soon as I noticed it. I never thought about possibly being pregnant...AF is due in 2 days, so I should know then. I wish I had learned to dowse, maybe then I'd know-- I never could get the P I was using to move, and eventually got frustrated and stopped trying. I use spf 30 everyday, so color was never an issue before, but I think I will stay inside! The really strange thing is that my complexion is SO light, and from what I've read, this usually happens to people with darker complexions. Do you have any idea how long it should take to regenerate skin? months? years? Thanks again for the advice!! I really appreciate it. Lisa

Yeah...I never heard of the spots either until I was talking to my dr. sis and she mentioned it just the other day she commonly saw it with her preggers patients.

MGD1,
Every summer, for the last 10 years or so, I get the same kind of discoloration on my face from being in the sun. I only need to be out for a short while and these brown splotches pop up on my cheeks and forehead. I began using a sunscreen called Sunfader from Obagi and that really helps to fade the splotches before they come out full force. Once I'm no longer spending time in the sun, they go away.
Not saying that you have the same thing, so please have it checked, but just wanted you to know there is a chance that it's not the herbs and may be nothing to worry about.

Facial skin generally regenerates in about 21 days - by the way, if you get the Real Beauty - Real Health Book, you'll learn all sorts of interesting things about your skin (and hair, and nails) and how to keep it looking good.
I digress.
Just to be on the safe side, stop all the herbs, do an MT cleanse and find a good retinol cream to use and keep out of the sun and use high power sunblock until it fades. Even if it isn't melasma, it can't hurt to fix it - after all - it's your FACE.
Melasma occurs with pregnancy, HRT & birth control pills.

Thanks everyone~ I'm doing everything Fawn suggested to get rid of the pigment on my face and using SPF 50 and staying out of the sun as much as possible. I think it may be less noticeable, at least it's not getting worse... Take care, Mgd1

HI Mgd, this facial discoloration is common in Asian women, it usually happens after the age of 40. My mom had it quite bad.

If you are on birth control pills this sometimes causes it. I had a friend that had a moustache with this type of pigmentation. There is a prescription you can get. Lost touch with this person , so can't give more specific information...

im glad you brought this up..i have the same problem and mine is really bad..mine looks like a mask on my face and im really white around the eyes..it get worse on my upperlip, it looks like dirt is on it..not tan more like dirt. i have tryed what docs give me and all it does is burn my skin or make it darker..if i use anything that has bleach in it it makes it darker too..my skin is very light complextion and blonde hair...i dont spend time in the sun and put on sun block if i do go out..i wouldnt mind it so much if it wasnt on my upperlip so dark looking like a mustash..i dont have anything but peach fuzz there and its what all the girls not the men but the girls point out first when they see me. im going to try fawns idea...i havent been on herbs for a while but im still going to do the milk thistle.. good luck to you because i know what your going through and its hard to find a cure for melasma. mo
