I've been taking l'arginine for 9 months with short breaks for cycling purposes. This last break made it painfully evident that regular use is necessary to manage the arthritis in my hands and hip. Is there any decrease in effectiveness if I take l'arginine and l'glutamine without a break?

Not really - it's a nutrient, not a drug.
(i.e. - protein doesn't just stop "working" because you eat it every day.)
Have you tried MSM/Glucosamine for the arthritis yet?

I plan on taking l'arginine for as long as it works for the arthritis. I also take 500mgs each of MSM/Glucosamine daily without a break. That doesn't appear to be as effective without the l'arginine/l'glutamine.
