Hi all. Has anyone tried to get rid of thread veins, and if so, how? I've heard that there are different techniques used by doctors. I've also seen gels, but don't see how anything topical can really help. Any experience or knowledge to share?

What are "thread veins" - do you mean spider veins?
Usually a sign of too much estrogen - a lot of women get them from using bc pills and during pregnancy.
Vitamin K in and out - and butcher's broom, too.
Vitamin K and the silica in butcher's broom strenthen blood vessel walls - spider veins are blood vessels that have weakened and their integrity is shot.
Mild skin brushing can help, but it has to be gentle. It will also help disperse any leaking blood back into the interstitial fluids to be carried away.

In England we call them thread veins but sounds like the same thing.
I got them in my late teens and they haven't really got much worse since (now 31), but I'd like to get rid of them.
The treatments that you mention - are they to prevent or treat?

I also have spider veins, i have them absolutely everywhere and im only 17. I don't think there is a way to get rid of them apart from Sclerotherapy or laser treatment, which is far too expensive for me.

Bubbalina, Have you been on birth control pills? BC pills are FAMOUS for causing spider veins.
Shaz, Vitamin K, butchers broom and light brushing are for treament. They can also help prevent them. Light brushing alone will reduce (but not get rid of) them. Same question - did you start BC pills in your late teens?

Fawn, I took BC pills in my late teens, but only for a short while as they didn't agree with me (caused depression which disappeared as soon as I stopped). I can't remember the exact timing, ie whether the veins appeared at the same time that I took BC pills.

I am on birth control pills. However, i had spider veins before i went on them.
Fawn, what is butchers broom? And when you say vitamin K, do you mean by taking it orally or applying a vitamin k lotion to the spider veins?

Pretty easy to google and on many herbal sites. Vit K from all posts from Fawn and others should be taken both externally and internally.

Thanx wenonae for replying.
Also another question for anyone, has anyone had improvement with the appearance of their spider veins by either taking butchers broom or vit k?
