Hi everyone,
My husband has a constant problem of headache and restless sleep. He can never sleep properly. He gets up even with a small noise and cannot go back to sleep.
For headache he has tried lots of stuff like homeopathy etc but it has been a waste. He is in between jobs now and really stressed out. He is also not able to sleep peoperly.
I was wonderign if I can use soem essentail oils to help him. Has anyone used it ? Which one would u recommend??
BTW he has sleeping peoblems even when he is not stressed out. and I don't want him to take any medicines for sleep.
Thanks Mansi

I've heard lavender is supposed to help with sleep. I have tried it, but I didn't notice a difference. The bed smelled nice though. I tried Moondrops...they taste great(vanilla) and are very mild. They will get you to sleep, but they won't keep you asleep all night if you are worried or restless. When I had a miraine, my hubby came home with the worst tasting tea I ever drank...wish I could remember what it was, but I have selectively forgotten that experience. It worked though when excedrin, etc. didn't. tea

Yep, lavender is what I use for my son who sometimes has a hard time getting to sleep (1 drop on a cotton ball in his pillowcase). But...maybe it's easier to get a child to sleep with it than an adult. I've tried it, as well, and it is relaxing, but sometimes when the worries of life take over, there really isn't anything that works for me. (Guess on those nights I'm just a relaxed worrier! ) I've been very stressed out lately, and what's really helped me has been to take two Kava Kava capsules. In a half hour: Boom! It hits and the anxiety's gone (good with my BE, too). Of course, he can't drive after taking them, but they may help. Cutting back on coffee is also good for reducing that "flight or fight" feeling of anxiety. There are a few essential oils that have a sedative effect, like lavender. Rose may be another (and boy, does it smell good). I'll see if I can round up a suggestions, and a recipe or two (for massage, aromatic baths, etc.). Grace

I have one of those husbands too. Actually his doctor just put him on a small dose of Elavil, and he's not sure he likes it or not. Lavendar is soothing, but is stimulating to the male libido, BTW. Studies show that there is a 40% increase of blood flow to the penis under the stimulus of the scent of lavendar. (Vanilla works, too.) So, you could wear him out with a romp! You could also try chamomile tea, too. Fawn

Now I know why the significant other engages in such overt behavior while I'm baking. It's got to be the vanilla extract! gigi

"THINGY"?! For everyone's information, I did NOT type "thingy" - I typed the technical term. Sheesh! Since this board is too puritan for technical terms, I shall henceforth describe it as a "tonker". Anyway - yes, that's why hubby gets affectionate while you're baking. Apparently, the smell of vanilla stimulates feelings of affection and safety. And to be honest, mine gets like that when I am puttering in the kitchen, even if the only smell produced is Pinesol (apparently there's some kind of 50's domestic goddess fantasy thing going on in there - even if its completely subconscious). Lavendar is relaxing overall and relaxes blood vessels as well.

Fawn -- that's too weird that you said that about the "thingy" word. In one of my other posts (about my recipe for boobie batter), I actually typed in "TBSP" (the whole word, though) and when I read it later, it said "tablesthingys"! Ack! I don't talk like that, much less TYPE like that. I tried to edit it, but it wouldn't change, perhaps because others had already responded. It's very frustrating, honestly. Where it came from, heck if I know. Think I just figured it out. I just reread this post, and it came up as "tablesthingys" again. So I abbreviated the word so you'd all know what I'm saying. I even typed in the word s p o o n (w/o spaces), and it came up as sthingy. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS BOARD? Is it preset to edit certain words, and if so, what is wrong with the word s p o o n? Sheesh.

Fixed those lil' issues ladies! I could not figure out why it would edit "tablespoon" Made no sense, sorry, but tablespoons typically aren't "slanderess" well not in this part of the world anyway. Except if you don't wanna' cook. The reason it edited is the slang for "p u t a n g" is "poon" Daaaah! Must get up with the latest lingo. Let me know if you find anymore annoyances like this! SHEEESH! Who woulda' thunk it! Thanks Ladies!
