hi all, my mum is 46 yrs old, she is starting to show signs of aging... loose and lax skin, wrinkles, dark circles etc. can anyone recommend me some anti-aging products or anything one should take at this age to slow down the aging process. i think pregnenolone, MSM are just a few she should start using. Also i found a product on vitacost which has alpha- lipoic acid, chondroitin sulphate and CoQ -- these fight the call aging process. anyone has any other ideas?mum is also a hypothyroid , but she's taking medications for that and its well under control. and how much pregnenolone should she start with at her age? i did not recommend her progesterone though coz she has very balanced cycles, no PMS and is almost a 38D, she is firm too. thanks all! anita

Anita Check this site out 12.38.102.81/it is by Nicholas Perricone M.D. I have his book The Wrinkle Cure, plus his new book. I'm 45 and people tell me I look like I'm in my late 30's. I eat a lot of salmon, drink lots of water, and use Reviva"s Alpha Lipoic Acid,Vitamin C ester & DMAE cream I buy it at Vitamin Shoppe. I just started using Alpha lipoic acid 200mgs a day. Barbara

You know Barb now that you mention it, I also take Vita C with MSM, and I noticed I look healthier. The fine lines are even finer now! The other thing when I started progesterone cream...I noticed a change for the better in my skin. ;D I read somewhere, darn if I remember, that estrogen dominance will make for wrinkles. Well it was prolly estrogen excess...either way...progesterone does help keep skin healthy too.

Wonder if Harrison Ford and Sean Connery and all those guys worried about anti aging products in their 40's? I think I'm trying to make a point here, but I'm not sure what it is since I'm so easily sucked into whatever society is selling. Heavy sigh. tea

Wonder if Harrison Ford and Sean Connery and all those guys worried about anti aging products in their 40's? tea Well - I wish Harrison Ford had! He was SUCH a babe! Still cute, but hasn't held up as well as say - Sean Connery. Anyway - depends on what part of aging your mum wants to deal with - health, memory, cosmetic. Some supplements are good for it overall, some are just for generally "anti-aging" and some only help cosmetic purposes. Over all, pregnenolone, MSM, all the anti-oxidants and a HGH precursor program should help. However, if she has other issues to deal with, that might require other protocols. If she is nearing, or has reached menopause, progesterone cream is a good idea. As far as thyroid, some medications are better than others and what was once considered "under control" is no longer accepted. Used to be a TSH level under 5.5 was "okay" - now they want it under 3.5. It highly effects weight, mood, energy, memory, etc. So it's very important to keep tabs on. I noticed a huge difference between 1.99 and 1.2 - it's a very delicate balance.

Hello everyone, It's been ages since I last wrote. HOpe everyone here is fine and making progress. I was away for a trip in Australia recently. As I took a digicam with me I was able to view my pics everyday after taking them. To my 'horror' it suddenly dawned upon me that I had aged so much since i started work last year. I'm 25 but I think my eyelids are beginning to sink in and skin looked blotchy and dull with some wrinkles popping up. My left eyelid has/is sinking in a little,so when I open my eyes, there is an extra line/depression above the eyelid crease. This bothers me as it kinda pushes the eyelid down/prevents me from opening my eyes widely. Initially I thought it was lack of sleep and dehydration from all the sightseeing and travelling I was doing. I have been back for almost a week. The eyelid problem has since improved, say 30%. It is OK in the mornings but shows up in the afternoons. I'm just really disappointed because I had been faithfully using eyecare creams and facial products since I was 21-22. Does this mean that they dont work for me? I have just started taking this Imedeenlike supplement for the skin, Vitamin C, GNC multivites and other antioxidants, in addition to GNC's triflex which contains msm, glucosamine and chondritin. After some internet research I am planning to do some targeted facial exercises but I've heard some comments that facial exercises cause wrinkles and stretches the skin, making it worse. Any input on this? I'm just so flustered by all this. I've always imagined myself growing old gracefully, but not growing old prematurely & gracefully. Help!!! Lilly

Hi Lilly, Welcome back, long time no post! You know I noticed this too about 4 months after I started BE....now I am QUITE a bit older than you. But I had suddenly aged. At least in my eyes, and it was most definately in my EYES! The same thing, sinking eyes, drooping to a point, and just look BAD. I discovered that I was hypthyroid, within a few months of beginning L-tyrosine, my eyes had improved dramatically. It had gotten so bad, I had started to loose my eyebrows, the outer edges! You may want to check your temps daily. If you are running below 97.3f, you should start L-tyrosine 500 mg daily. Just a thought...cuz I had the same thing happen, didn't know what was causing it, until my temps CRASHED!

Sheesh, it's been a month since you posted this, Anita, but I'd like to respond. As far as taking things that are anti-aging, everyone's made great suggestions. I can't remember if it was mentioned, but plenty of water is essential for good skin. Also, I'm very into natural skin care, especially with essential oils. I use jojoba oil as a moisturizer (not a very greasy oil at all), sometimes mixed with a drop or two of clary sage essential oil (clary sage is a great hormone regulator). Caution, though: jojoba oil is great for shrinking swollen tissues, so do not use this on your chest! It would NOT be good for BE! I can't recommend commercial preparations to you. I am ending my stint as a rep of a very well know cosmetics company -- my last order goes in tomorrow -- mainly because it was cutting into family time, but also because they use preservatives in their skin creams (some are known neurotoxins). I can't, in good conscience, continue selling something like that. Anyway, have your mom take a trip to the health food store. They may be able to give her more suggestions. PG
