Hi ladies, So, I take my l'lysine EVERY night and I thought that would ward off the evil cold sores, but NO! I got one yesterday . The night prior I took damiana after a one month break. Just that one dose and then wham, I got a cold sore. I think I am going to stop using damiana for the remainder of this cycle as I am using progesterone cream. My logic is why take a pr blocker WHILST taking pr. At any rate, if anyone has any suggestions or comments, please reply! Thanks and happy growing!

hi NQ, I checked another site and the recommendation there was to take 500-1000mgs of l'lysine daily to minimize outbreaks of cold sores. There was also a caution to take it on an empty stomach and to avoid nuts, seeds and chocolate. Apparently herpes simplex resides in nerve cells and hangs out until something triggers it like stress, illness, lack of sleep, sun exposure or immunological issues. How much l'arginine, l'ornithine and l'glutamine are you taking and are you cycling it/them?

Hi Gigi,
I do take the l'lysine on empty. I'm not taking l'arginine/l'ornithine, they caused me zits. I just started taking l'glutamine and was unaware that it needed to be cycled.
It was probably just stress and sleep deprivation. One of these days, I WILL get all of this right!
