Can some give me a quick explanation of what the "luteal phase" is? Thanks!

Never mind -- found this definition on a web site:
<<The luteal phase of the menstrual cycle spans the time between ovulation and the onset of the next menses.>>

Hi Princess Grace, Yep...that's the definition...but what does it mean to BE? ;D In the "B.E. Lingo" section you will find some GREAT charts that explain and show how the different hormones should be balancing during different phases of a cycle. This information is really helpful when doing BE. So many broken hearts from luteal swelling....so many hissy fits. Been there...thrown that! Screamed at da' poor boobies for shrinking when that evil AF shows up and takes it ALL away. The theory of this board and it is proving to be a productive one, is low progesterone/estrogen dominance, which DOES cause luteal swelling, seems to work best for success. A few on the board that have had success, this hormone imbalance is natural. Just be careful, with the low progesterone theory. It is fine for short time spans, but NOT long term. There's more information regarding that....do a search on the board.

During the follicular phase - menstruation to ovulation - estrogen rises and progesterone is low.
During luteal - ovulation to menstruation - both rise and peak around day 21 and then drop rapidly, stimulating the onset of menses.
