I didn't think I would need birth control for a while but I recently lost my virginity to my boyfriend of 8 months so I decided I should probably go on it. (We were very careful and used condoms as well as emergency contraception--just in case.) I didn't bring my pendulum with me to college so I can't dowse whether the birth control that was prescribed for me is healthy and will have virtually no negative effects on my body. I am also a bit worried about weight gain, but I guess I'll just have to work out for that. I will probably go out looking for a pendulum if I can figure out where to buy one. The form of BC I am using is the pill with the lowest amount of hormones, according to my doctor.
Thanks for your help!

I'm taking a low dose of BC too, and have seen no side affects. I'm taking it because my husband and i are not quite ready to have children, but only the first month did i feel anything. I felt a little nauseous- but it went away. As far as weight gain, i asked about that too and what i was told was that it's never the "pill" that makes you gain weight. If your appetite changes, or increases and you indulge- you'll gain weight. We can always take precautions. I can't help you with your pendulum though because i'm not into that. Hopefully my 2 cents on BC helps and makes sense.

Doctor's will always tell you the pill won't make you gain weight and birth control SHOULDN'T cause you weight gain but it can, especially if it's not the right one for your body. I've never had an appetite change from any of the BC I've been on.
Low hormone BC can be good and bad...again depends on your body. Low hormone is horrible on mine. It does not control my period at all. I actually end up spotting in the middle of every cycle. If you can figure out what BC would be best for your body without having to go through trial and error, then great! Good Luck!

Hey Coco'-
List the BC and I can check it for you. Pendulum's can be made out of anything ya know...but! I think that one you have at home is special. You need a medium level estrogen BC.

Fortunately, I've only been on this low dose, and didn't have to try anything else with any trial and error, but i agree with FlatMama. It really just depends on your body. Also- figuring out if you're estrogen dominant or not can help. Funny how different our bodies are though because this low dose (mine is called LEVORA) completely regulates my period, so i can expect it the same time of the month every month.

Thanks everyone! My mom said to start with low hormones so that's what I'm going to do for now.
Wen, I'll get back to you on prescription. I'm picking it up some time next week since the doctor said it's best to start it on the Sunday during my period.
