Fawn,
I have a friend staying in Florida too, was cut off electricity for 13 hours. Currently the condition is back to normal.
Hope that everything is fine for you there now.

We're just feeling the effects of Frances now-flooding everywhere. There's virtually no transportation into Manhattan from the other boros because the subways and highways are flooded. Hope Ivan the Terrible self-destructs or reverses his path or we're up the creek! Fawn, is the house intact? I know you got some strong winds and lots of rain. One of the downsides I'm acquainted with of being near the water.

The house is intact and fine - we were barely touched. Only lost power for 3 hours - had some 70 mph gusts by my house - but spent MOST of it outside in the fresh air (no lights/no A/C it - the back porch was the most comfortable place to be!)
My NERVES, however, are NOT intact. Now they are evacuating the Keys because of Ivan - and who knows what else.
Should have moved to Illinois, like we discussed.
SHEESH!!!

Fawn,
How did you fare these last two hurricanes, Ivan and Jeanne? I have friends who live in FL, they came up north to avoid Frances, then extended their stay because of Ivan, then when they returned home Jeanne struck! Hope you and your family, and your new house are OK.
