Hi there,
What's the difference between regular saw palmetto berries and the saw palmetto extract? Is one more effective than the other?
Is a 160 mg pill of the extract equivalent in strength as a 450 mg of the berry?

Another thing to watch for with extracts, is the strength. Many are 1:4 as in Wenonae's example. But some, like Greenbush are 1:1. That is, it is as strong as the regular herb. It also works the other way. An extract that says 10:1 is ten times the strength of the regular herb, so to be accurate with your dosages you have to know what the strength of the extract is. An example from the Greenbush website: "Our new fennel extract is bio-chelated and alcohol free. It has a 1:1 herb strength ratio, so 1ml is equivalent to 1000mg of raw herb - two to three times the strength of the average herbal extract." www.greenbush.net/fenfor.htmlWahaika

Oh, good to know. No wonder it's so much more expensive. Thanks - you've both been extremely helpful. So glad I found this board.
