Hi Everyone! Ok i'm getttin quite desperate now as i can see my hair line receding like abaldin 40yr old! I've always had relatively thin wavy hair.Last yr i got a smoothening treatment done n i noticed it had thinned slightly more. Now its almost been a yr i havent touched my hair with any sort of chemo\icals at all but i can still see the hair at my forehead has thinned more & it seems like my hair line is receding.I always had a large forhead which was nice in a way but now my boyfriend noticed the other day that it seemed longer now.I'm gettin really worried. Is there any remedy to this?I do have normal hair fall but i don't think i have like a serious hormonal issue as its not drastic! Also i have been thry u stressful period on & off so may that also has a role..? Any suggestions wud be greatly appreciated.Take Care! Thanks!

Stress affects everything. For some women, thinning hair is attributed to hormonal imbalance- re: too much estrogen. Doing herbs probably isn't making it better. To make your hair thicker, you'll prolly need to literally grow more hair. I'll make the suggestion for Fawn- maybe consider the 'Beauty' book on www.realhealthmethod.com. There's remedies and off-the-shelf suggestions for thickening and growing hair. Wen'

Just thought I would share seeing as I have had a similar experience.......... During the first 3 months of herbs I noticed quite a bit of hair loss. I have very long hair and when I brushed tons of hair would be on my hairbrush. Funny enough though it stopped. I went to the hairdresser for a trim around my 7th month of BE and she noticed that I had new hair line just bfore my bangs begin. Sort of like baby hair. She thought I had cut part of my bangs off, but really it was new growth. Maybe it was the Saw Palmetto, I have heard that it helps with hair growth.
Good luck, Lisa

If you have too much testosterone floating around which causes a lot of male-pattern baldness, SP will help.

Another shot here........you may be zinc deficient and need to add a supplement. You can also eat zinc rich foods like beef, pork, fortified cereals and yogurt.

Ok from the hormone test i did i am currently estrogen dominant. And i also have excess androgens. This must be the cause.Right now i am applying progesterone oil to balance out my hormones. Will this stop the thinning..?It won't make my hair grow thicker i guess..Even i thot SP might help. But i will be starting that only when i'm done with the Progstn & get on the BE train.I am considering buying the Real Health book though..

Since you're trying dowsing, check the following: "is the cause of my hair loss due to excess estrogen only?" "is the cause of my hair loss due to excess androgens only?" "is it due to a combination of both things?" "will a liver cleanse help to rectify this?" See what u get Wen'

Hey everyone! Ok i've started my BE program about a week back. Haven't had any tingling sensations yet but my hair's started feelin really wierd. The first few rows of hair near the crown feel very painful. Actually its the scalp there that hurts a lot. I feel like my hair is being pulled too hard in the front. I've had this pain for about 3 days now & its not got any better. Could this be becoz of the SP? I haven't noticed any new hair growth or thickening, but it jus hurts a lot there..I'm currently taking 1 cap of RC & Fenugreek thrice a day each & 2 caps of SP thrice a day. Can anyone figure this out? Has anyone experienced this...?

The pain is due to the hairloss, lack of hair. I can't explain it but everyone I know with hairloss has this feeling. I don't have hairloss anymore, but the hairs on my forehead are really thin and it hurts like hell all the time there whenever I change my hairstyle.

Hi satu, thanks..yeah ur right i'm only 23 so it can't be menopause. As far as i know i don't have much stress now either. I did have a couple of months ago but not now. Even i think it could be becoz of the estrogenic herbs i'm takin for BE. I'm following the F2F routine & its mentioned there that i shud take 3 SP pills thrice if i'm estrogen dominant which i am. I'm currently takin 2 pills so i think i'll ramp that up to 3 & see if that helps. I might try the grapeseed extract externally as well. How do u use that? Do u apply it to ur hair & leave it or massage with it...? I'd gone to my hairdresser today & he suggested some hair spa treatments for my hairloss. I'll give that a shot as well next week sometime. Hope it helps. Do u think i shud give my body a month to adjust to the new herbs & see if the pain goes before i try anything new...?

Hi Satu! Thaks so much for all the info! One good news now is the pain on the scalp has stopped since yesterday. So if it doesn't come back i'm jus gonna stick to the lowest dosages on the F2F for now. If things seem to be goin smoothly i'll ramp up if needed. I really wanna buy the Real Beauty book but am so broke right now after pickin up all the pills & extracts! First thing the money comes in i'm gonna buy the book. Seeing the response here i think its a pretty good investment. Thanks again satu, will try the grapeseed when money permits.

Hi everyone, I am new on here and I have a question. My mom is 54 and is going through her menopause, she hasn't had many symptoms and I think she might be finished with it now too, I am not too sure, it's just that she is complaining about thinning hair. Anyone have any advice on this? I heard that it can have negative effects taking herbs that influence hormones during Menopause so I didn't want to recommend her to take the Saw Palmetto. Does anyone have any opinion, info on this and on what she could do? I would really appreciate it, and so would my mom. Thanks in advance, Lena

Thanks in advance, Lena You should guage what a person needs by their apparent symptoms, not by what some study somewhere shows. Since your Mom is in, near, or done with menopause, her hormonal production has changed. It very well could be that the balance of her estrogens is converting/aromatising to testosterone. It also could be that the ratio of her estrogen to progesterone with very different and causing other hormones to go into high gear. Simply- I would tell your Mom to give SP a go. Start out with about 1500mg and no more than 3gs'. Wen'

Hi Lena, Women going through menopause experience a drop in their estrogen production which can manifest as symptoms such as thinning scalp hair, increased facial and/or body hair, etc. There are a few things you and your mom can check out: 1) Hormone Replacement Therapy - to replace the estrogen that is no longer being produced. Your mom should talk to a primary care physician AND an OB/Gyn about this (I know from speaking with many OB/Gyns that they are heavily biased toward using HRT, while some primary care physicians do not use them as first-line treatment; it's always good to have two opinions in such matters). 2) Adequate protein and vitamin intake. Even if someone with thinning hair is producing enough estrogen, if they don't have the building blocks necessary to make hair, they won't. Some places sell a "hair, skin and nails" vitamin - I've tried these and they seem to make my hair grown longer/faster but not necessarily thicker. Might be worth looking into, though. 3) Spironolactone, which is a mild diuretic, is also an androgen blocker. Commonly prescribed for women with PCOS who have thinning scalp hair and increased body hair. My hair started thinning several years ago, and I've now been on spironolactone for about 3 years; I think it made a significant improvement - not back to being the way it was, but definitely better. It's by prescription only. 4) Rogaine for Women (generic Minoxidil) is a vasodilator. It increases blood flow to the hair follicles, which is the theoretical basis for how it works. Available at Wal-mart as a store brand for less than the name brand. 5) Special shampoo/conditioner systems such as Nioxin, available at salons and stores such as Trade Secret. I've heard several people rave about how this has made a difference in the thickness of their hair or has helped one of their loved ones grow some hair back. Somewhat expensive, but the bottles are pretty large and will go a long way. 6) Books are also available for more information: www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0971508801/qid=1131233065/sr=8-10/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i10_xgl14/103-4063980-2239811?v=glance&s=books&n=507846www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1402202571/qid=1131233065/sr=8-4/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i4_xgl14/103-4063980-2239811?v=glance&s=books&n=507846Not sure how useful they are, but you may want to check them out. And then one reviewer had a recipe to share: "I thought I would end up bald. Then, I found a recipe on the Internet (bless it), and after using it every day, I can testify that it really works! Within the first month, the hair loss returned to normal (what was normal for me - maybe 200 hairs a day), and within the second month, my hair loss became less than average - I would say less than 50 hairs a day! The sink is almost empty after washing hair. I actually solved the problem I have been having my whole adult life. The recipe: 1 1/2 cup of dry nettle 1/2 cup chopped onion Put in a container, add enough rubbing alcohol to cover. After a few days (or more), strain and use liquid to massage scalp once a day." I hope this helps your mom. I truly sympathize. It is especially difficult and even traumatic for females to lose their hair. Good luck - Peachy
